This is the sort of thing that may have already occurred to everyone else, but it made my evening this evening.

Someone recently gave me a package of hot cocoa mix -- good quality ingredients, nothing artificial. This evening, with the sun seeming to disappear far too early and the world looking drearily autumnal, I decided I need to try the hot cocoa -- but it requires milk. I don't have any milk on hand (don't much like milk, other than kefir or buttermilk), so I thought, why not break out the box of Asian dried coconut cream and make it with that. Well, I'm not sure there is any compelling reason to ever make hot cocoa with regular milk ever again. Hot cocoa made with thin coconut cream is pretty darn close to heavenly.

Just figured it was too good to not share.

How close was it in taste to a Mounds bar? The idea alone is making my mouth water a little. Excellent idea!

Not quite as sweet as a Mounds bar, and a bit more subtle, with the chocolate dominating, rather than the coconut -- but still in that flavor family. Great mouth feel, as well as great flavor.

Where do you find Asian dried coconut cream?

I think the box I currently have was picked up on Argyle St. (I just checked the box, and generic price tag gives no clues -- but even if this box didn't come from there, I've bought it there before). However, I would imagine most stores that cater to S.E. Asian or southern Indian clientele would have it. It's a great thing to have on hand, especially if you don't want to open a whole can for some smaller application.
