I intended for years to go to the old Brew & Grow location, but it was located in an out-of-the-way corner that I tried and failed twice to find without a printed map or GPS. They have now moved to the incredibly convenient Kedzie and Addison area and have a huge, bright new store. Lots of hydroponics and brewing supplies . . . bat guano from various locations . . . liquid giant squid fertilizer . . . grains, malts, extracts . . . oh, just go look fer pete's sake. I don't brew anymore, but I got a bag of dried malt extract for baking with.
They have a brewing starter kit for around $65 [not including any ingredients]; also cases of label-less empty bottles - back when I was brewing, I had to empty my own beer bottles first before I'd have bottles to fill with homebrew. Oh, things were tough back in the old days! [Tho, I then had to scrape labels off of bottles by hand . . . and that
was a complete bitch.] If you've ever thought about homebrewing, it's a cheap enough hobby to start up, and obviously everything you need is here.
I don't know anything about hydroponics, so I can't judge . . . I will say that I'd REALLY, REALLY like to be invited to one of the staff parties, though.
