I barely noticed that Walgreen's even had hard liquor but I stopped in the other night and they had a bunch of yellow sale tags all over their liquor. Some of it is a "Regularly $29.99, Now$29.99" but others offer a decent discount. Mostly mixer-ish stuff, but they had Tito's for $14.99 and others like Malibu, Captain Morgan and grandma's favorite, Bailey's, at similar discounts. Runs through the end of the month.

The flagship store on State street in downtown has a whole liquor section with high end alcohol costing $100+.

I've seen the wine (even picked up a few bottles for the office), I'd just never notice hard liquor.

I walked through the state street store this morning and I see a lot of Hard Liquor behind a glass wall display:

Didn't say it wasn't there, just that I'd never noticed it.

For years Walgreens sold alcohol and then all of a sudden-around 1990- it stopped. Rumor was that a Walgreen family member had alcohol issues and they just made it a policy not to sell. Perhaps an urban myth vs. the expense and liability associated with the sale of alcohol. Now, I suspect as a counter to CVS it sells alcohol again. I found the best Walgreens for whisky and bourbon is the Walgreens in West Memphis off the highway-it sells big a** bottles of Ancient Ancient Age super cheap.

Too bad my wife's employee discount does not extend to booze!

The big fancy one downtown* has quite a good selection. Best in the 'hood I'm guessing.
