Whisky Fest

Due to the generosity of my brother-in-law, I will have the good fortune to attend Whisky Fest w/ a VIP ticket (an earlier start). As I have never done this event before, I was wondering if any veterans have any tips for pacing and ordering, i.e. should you start with scotch and then move to bourbon or vice versa? Currently my plan is to map out 10 whiskys I really want to try and are hard to get here and do those first. However, I fear that when confronted with the reality, I will turn into a kid in a candy store and taste whatever I see. Just curious what other people's experiences have been in the past. Thanks.
