    Greetings all,

I'm looking to venture eastward to northwestern IN for cheap cigarettes and fancy beer. Can anyone point me towards a proper liquoria where I could find a good selection of brews (Bell's, Stone, Arrogant Bastard [?]) that can't be purchased in the Land of Drinkin'? Something like a Sam's or Binny's for the Hoosier set?

    Thanks in advance.

Google " Liquor Stop". I forgot the exact address, and it's like 5 mins drive on Indianapolis off I94.

Not specific to your question...however...around Indianapolis I've yet to find anything approaching Sam's/Binny's(this includes the vaunted Kahn's) as per vino.

Beer(and Bell's products in particular) you can find an extensive selection of at virtually any smaller chain: Crown, 21st Amendment.

    HI,

One evening coming back to Chicago from a NWI adventure, Rene G wanted some Bells to take back. We hit every liquor store we saw from East Chicago, Hammond into Whiting without anything but the most basic selections. I would advise contacting Bells to learn their retail outlets in the NWI, then please post here.

We did visit Three Floyds brewery, which you need to get a map in advance of your trip. It is in the middle of a industrial park next to the Munster water tower. You will not casually bump into it.

FYI - I don't buy my gas at the stations immediately adjacent to the border. I take Indianapolis or Calumet a few miles in to find fuel prices as much as 20 cents per gallon lower.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

As mentioned above, Liquor Stop in Highland has the best selection.

    Liquor Stop
    9218 Indianapolis Blvd
    Highland, IN 46322
    (219) 838-6884

DeLock's at Calumet and Ridge in Munster (on the way to 3Fs) usually has a pretty good stock of Bell's stuff by the case.

    Delock's Discount Liquors
    822 Ridge Rd
    Munster, IN 46321
    (219) 836-2088

You would think some enterprising store owner just over the border in Whiting would be willing to feed the need for Bell's, but my experiences have matched Cathy2's and ReneG's.

Nick's Liquors is something of an institution in the Region. They do a brisk cash and carry business, although their stock is pretty much standard fare. (Oh, and they have and pretty good pricing on cigarettes, at least according to my smoking peers.)

    Nick's Liquors
    6914 Indianapolis Blvd
    Hammond, IN 46324
    (219) 844-3239

    6838 Calumet Ave,
    Hammond, IN 46324

    4702 Calumet Ave,
    Hammond, IN 46324

I've actually been surprised to find very good deals on alcohol at the Meijer's in Highland. They have a huge wine selection as well as beer (including lots of micro brews like the brands mentioned by the OP) and hard liquor, and their pricing is usually better than other competitors.

If you turn east on Ridge, then you are very, very close to the John's Pizza run by the founder's family.
