    ... 30 bottles dating to the 1780s, found at a depth of ca. 55 metres in the Baltic, near Åland... the make is almost certainly Veuve Clicquot... Thanks to conditions, the bottles and -- more importantly -- their contents were perfectly preserved... the bubbly, likely made just before the French Revolution, has been sampled and declared excellent: "Le vin est absolument fabuleux."

    Even if the champagne hadn't held up, it would be fascinating to get one of the bottles just because of the history -- and the story. Sunken treasure, indeed.

    Of course, drinking the champagne wouldn't be bad, either.
