A friend of mine recently returned from a trip to Thailand and while there she developed a taste for Sangsom Rum. Has anyone seen it for sale in the Chicagoland area? We checked with all of the usual suspects (Binny's, etc) but have yet to find anyone carrying it in this area.

Try looking for Sang Thip and most times it is considered a whiskey.

I believe I saw it at the Binny's on Grand (and on sale, to boot). Call them to confirm. Also saw it at Binny's South Loop in the rum section.

I recently bought a bottle of Mekhong at Lakeview Liquors. Mekhong is another sugar cane based Thai spirit with a bit of rice added to the distillation. Fun going down, potentially savage the next day. That's the sonorous voice of experience talking, btw.
