I might be stopping for a drink this weekend in the area of Ogilvie/Union Station after 11pm. I could use a reasonably priced recommendation for two types of places within walking distance:

    1) One for just drinks
    2) One for drinks that also has a decent food menu.

No sports bars, trendy T&A places or loud dance venues, please.

    Thanks!

Food is excellent. I'm sure the drinks are great too, but I haven't tried them.

There is a bar next door called New Line Tavern where I went for beers once. It was nice.

I second the Prairie Fire recommendation (where Ronnie Suburban will be mixing drinks this Thursday night), but if you're just looking to grab a quick drink, the bar in Union Station just off the great hall is where the commuters go to get their buzz on before catching the train. It's big and not all that expensive.

 I should mention that this will be after 11pm. Sorry.

If you're closer to Ogilvie, you're not far from Avec, which is open until 1 or 2 on weekends, I believe.

Closer to Union Station and the Clinton Blue line, you could head 5 or so blocks west and hit Jak's Tap. Open until 2/3am on weekends. Good selection of beer, better than average pub grub.

Also a little bit west, though not as far as Jak's, I'm guessing there are a few spots in Greektown that would be open. Artopolis, perhaps?

My other thought was the hotels in the area - JW Marriott and W City Center and the Allegro are all within a 10 or so minute walk of Union and Ogilvie - but I don't know if those bars/lounges would be considered reasonably priced.

    On closer inspection of Greektown:
open past 11pm (though not sure when the kitchen closes):
    Artopolis
    Athena
    Greek Islands
    Nine Muses
    Parthenon
    Rodity's
    Santorini

And north of Ogilvie is a place called Jefferson Tap & Grille that's open until 5am, serves the regular menu til 3am and a fried food/pizza menu til 4am.

Jefferson Tap is a sports bar, complete with pool table, I thought you didn't want that. Might as well go to Paramount Room which is just over the bridge.

Oh, I couldn't tell that from the photo. You're right, I didn't want that. Thanks for telling me!
