Hoping you guys can help. I did a search on the forum, but couldn't really find anything too conclusive. I'm looking for recommendations on places in Chicago that focus on using grass-fed beef and organic ingredients.

I am aware of a few places in particular, i.e.,

    - Karyn's, a raw-food restaurant. We have not tried this place yet, although my boss, a raw-foodie, claims it's excellent. I understand this place doesn't serve meat, and everything is uncooked. I know that Karyn has a cooked menu, but it appears everything is vegetarian on there as well.

    - Vie in Western Springs. I understand that this place focuses on using local, fresh ingredients, and they seem to have a few organic items on the menu. We're actually going here next week for the hubby's birthday. Looking forward to trying out this place!

We also went to Custom House a few weeks ago, and they have some organic meats and items on their menu, though I can't say it was really 'sold' or explained to us in much detail when we asked about it.

I have heard there's a few restaurants in Chicago that serve Tall Grass beef (Harry Caray's, for one). Are there any others that you'd recommend?

We're not vegetarians. My husband and I both like our meat. We've just been trying to turn our focus to a healthier diet involving more organic foods, raw dairy, and grass-fed meats. Any places you know that have a number of good choices in this realm would be appreciated.

I think Socca is in that camp, too; but I have not been there.

Prairie Grass has Tallgrass beef, along with an excellent pedigree (chefs from Ritz Carlton, front-of-house from Four Seasons).

    Prairie Grass Cafe
    601 Skokie Valley Boulevard
    Northbrook, IL 60062

Uncommon Ground offers organic and has a nice mix of sandwiches and entrees:

Terragusto is also good. There is a lot of controversey over this place because of the price and portions/attitude since being on Check Please, but my husband and I think its great. Its not your typical Chicago italian, reminds me more of what you'd find in california, which I love since I miss living in Cali so much:

If you use Restaurant.com, Vie's there, but Tuesday's only. Great way to get $20 off the ticket.

A couple of other places with strong use of local/organic ingredients:

    312
    May Street Cafe
    Hot Chocolate

Interesting mention of 312...but it's May Street Market, right? May Street Cafe is the nuevo Latino place...though confusion between the two is very understandable. :)

Watching TV last night I noticed a commercial for Dominick's and their new line of organic foods.

I checked out their websiteand they have it featured on the front page and clicking on the link they list the 150 items they stock.

    Not 'on topic' but related....

    Hello,

I've heard that Chalkboard in Lincoln Square is organic. You might also try Lula Cafe.

    Cheers,

Yes, sorry I confuse them too.

Both May St. Market and 312 buy a lot from Genesis Growers.
