    LTH,

Went to Mike O'Donnell's Pub in Franklin Park last Friday to hear a niece sit in with Paradise Waits, a Grateful Dead cover band, and had two very pleasant surprises. One, I really enjoyed the music, which took me back to the golden days of my mostly innocent youth, and two, the pizza was terrific.

Thin, but not cracker, crust pizza is made from scratch dough and quality ingredients, I was particularly impressed by the fact that a 10pm bar pizza used freshly sliced garlic, attention to detail was excellent.

Daily specials, Friday was ruben w/fries, and the burgers looked plump and juicy. Lunch is served every day and the kitchen stays open late.

The crowd was fun, with a seemingly disproportionate number of attractive women. Service, both food and drink, for a packed house of hard drinking customers, was friendly and efficient.

I should note, in the interest of full disclosure, the bar is run by another niece (in-law) and owned by her family. So I may be slightly biased.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

Tonight was allegedly a calm night @ O'Donnell's. We had a super thin pizza, which was superb:

I took some other pix, but The Wife told me that if I posted them, she'd never go to another LTH event again...they were that scandalous.

    Nice report, G Wiv!
How did you get that slice to magically "pose" for the photo? :D
I love restaurants. You're sitting there and all of a sudden, there's food. It's like magic.

    Hammond,

Thin pizza at Mike O'Donnell's is on my must try list, though the regular bacon and mushroom, aka The Cookie Morowitz, we had last week hit the spot.

I was enamored with the fish sandwich, even though it was cod something about it reminded me of childhood excursions to Smith Brothers in Port Washington Wisconsin for fried perch sandwiches.

Mike O'Donnell's* has a comfortable tavern feel and a friendly noon time crowd with intramural conversations springing up naturally.
