There's a new Mexican restaurant in Aurora that's been open only a couple of weeks, but I've managed to sample quite a few of their dishes.

First, the restaurant is open for breakfast; I haven't tried the breakfast items yet but I like the idea of it.

On to lunch. Tacos are $1.50, and include al pastor, carnitas (out on the day I ordered it), the usual carne asada, pollo, but also tripas, cabeza and lengua. Tacos normally come with onions and cilantro; you can substitute lettuce and tomatoes. Cheese, sour cream and avocado are extras for 25-50 cents. I've tried the pollo, carne asada, cecina (marinated steak) and the al pastor. The cecina was my favorite.

Tortas and burritos are $4.38. Yesterday I had a fried taco with carne desebrada. It was $1.30, and it was great -- included cheese, lettuce and tomato.

Gorditas are $2.50, and are loved in the office. Varieties include green peppers with cheese, chicharron, chorizo and pork stew. Tostados are $2.25. I've had the carne asada and sincronizada (ham and cheese) quesadillas -- very filling. The ham and cheese is my favorite and costs $2.25, although others in the office like the chicken.

I haven't had the enchiladas, although a co-worker had them yesterday and said they were good. They looked yummy.

On the weekends they make posole and menudo. The menu also includes fajitas, and other plates, as well as several shrimp and fish dishes. And they serve Mexican coke.

Thanks for the heads up, I hope to get there this weekend! Are they in the strip by the Jewel or accross the street by Walgreen's?

Sounds great. Is it just breakfast and lunch?

Thanks for the review - I saw this place had opened when I was at Cermak's (which, by the way, is a great Mexican grocery store - very good produce, choice-arrachera, etc.), but I didn't get a chance to try it.

I was intrigued by the name, as it is the same as an excellent taqueria in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where I've had several great meals. If this is even half as good, I'd be thrilled.

The restaurant is open for dinner as well, and is located next to the Cermak grocery (the end of the strip mall nearest Indian Trail).

    Sadly, El Fogon esto muerto.

The restaurant was closed sometime last week. The entire place looks stripped of all furnishings.

Ah, well. It was good while it lasted.

P.S. Please forgive my faulty Spanish.
