One of the best deals to grab some lake perch. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays have an all you can eat breaded/fried Lake Perch deal for only $12 with fries and soup. This is a bargain value because not many establishments offer this much for your buck, especially with perch. Most places will skimp on the on a plate making you yearn for more.

Another interesting fact is that the restaurant is housed in a historic building over 117 years old. The cooler inside is 110 years old next to a kickass bar. After the Half Day Inn got demolished, this may be the oldest building up in Lake County (I could be wrong...) The workers charm to please.

I work out here and think if you are headed north to WI or work in the area, this is worth the sidetrip.

    Hi,

Where is this in relationship to 41?

    Regards,

This is just west of 41, your best chances getting here is getting off the tollway (I-94W) on E Park Ave (176)

The exit off the tollway is where lamb's farm is. Enjoy!

    HI,

This place is near where the railroad heist historical signage is. I drive by often but never stopped in this area. I hope to get there sometime.

I live in Highland Park. To take the tollway to go to Lake Bluff is out of the way.

The last time I went to the fish fry at Ritas, they offered the choice of Bluegill in addition to the perch. It was excellent, but that was several years ago. I have been meaning to go back, but have never gotten around to it.

Cathy2, you would probably want to go up on 41, although you could also go on Green Bay or Sheridan Road, and then west on 176 (Rockland Road).
Although the restaurant might officially have a Lake Bluff address, it looks to me as though it is really in Rondout (the site of the train robbery; my dad the history teacher took us there and told us about it). Rita's is near the railroad tracks (hmmm, speaking of train robberies, I guess that makes sense), west of the cool old Rondout Auto Service Center, and before you get to Lamb's Farm and the tollway.

I live not far from there; maybe we can meet there sometime. If we're not crazy about it we can always head back east on Rockland to the Silo for some cheesy pizza.

Went to Rita's on Friday night and was impressed. I have lots of friends that have always spoken highly of it, but had not tried it myself.

It's a family-run business with just seven tables in the dining room and two small tables in the bar area. We had to wait about 30-40 minutes for a table at 6:45 on a Friday night, which seemed very reasonable. We're in our early 40's and were the youngest couple by ourselves in the restaurant. There were some younger people, but they were with folks older than us.

The fish fry was clearly the reason to come, as just about everyone there was having it. You get your choice of perch or cod, along with a choice of side and choice of either soup or salad. The sides and salad were decent, but nothing you'd totally rave about.

But I will rave about the perch. It tasted fresh and the breading was done just perfect, not overly breaded and not greasy whatsoever. So if you're in the mood for a solid Midwest fish fry, head on over to Rita's.
