Talk to the staff, they were really friendly with me each time I've been. I always ask for recommendations and they gave me a special combination of their sauces, I think it was half and half, hot and mild, they said that was their favorite.

Generally, all AQ joints in Chicagoland will have three sauces: Mild, Hot, and "Mixed." Mixed is kinda understood, and prolly won't be listed on a menu. Thanks for bringing up this joint again, by the way. I was overdue to give them a second chance!

Speaking of Near West Burb take out places worth mentioning, geez Louise, this place should be mentioned:

    Tropical Time Jerk Chicken.

Jerk Grill has already been mentioned. I have not been there yet, but I've been sitting on a resto.com cert for a while now, and tonight might be the night.

Is this place still open? I tried to go there one day and it was closed. It looks awesome and I love jerk chicken. I'm excited that jerk has become quite trendy on the west side. After failing there I went to Xnipec and that was closed too! Ended up at La Quebrada. I can't remember what day of the week it was, but this was a couple months ago.

Got Bodhi Thai the other night, not impressed. The corn and sweet potato fritters were good! But the meat in all the other dishes was not good at all. Disappointing since it's very close...

You know Xni-Pec has moved to Brookfield, right?

Strange...the wife and I order from Bodhi Thai 2-3 times a month, and the only problem we've ever had is disappointment when they're out of mango for dessert. They quickly became our favorite Thai in the area.

I don't recall their hours, but I do recall that they seemed odd in some way. Pretty sure they are closed on Sundays.
The inside is reminiscent of a MR Submarine, don't expect any white tablecloths or service, but the chix I had there was good as hell.

Well, and they stopped offering the Thai sausages, at least for carry-out; we were told directly over the phone that "we won't be doing that anymore, sorry," and we switched back to Yum Thai for a while. However, we had an order with company a few weeks ago that was great - safe stuff, but they still used Chinese broccoli in the pad siew, made the laab nice and spicy, had fresh and plentiful herbs on the lemongrass chicken and lime sole, and cooked the tapioca in coconut milk dessert to an ideal state of chew. My excitement has waned somewhat, since the owner was so excited about doing occasional Thai-style dinners at the start and I haven't been able to get through to him for event organization, but I may try again.

D'oh! I need to read LTH more often! That's a bummer, that part of Cicero really benefited from having Xni-Pec. Probably better for them in the long run. I guess I had wishfully hoped they opened a second location there...

That's my kind of atmosphere! I hate having to get dressed up to go to Blackbird!

I've eaten probably 15 meals from Bodhi Thai and the food has been equal to meals from Spoon, Sticky Rice et. al, and even Lotus of Siam in Vegas which many food critics have called "The best Thai restaurant in the US". Granted, I stick to all the authentic Thai dishes and stay away from Pad Thai type stuff. I love the mussel omelette, best version I've ever had was from Bodhi Thai, but as with most restaurants, every once in a while you may hit an off night. The food is better eating in and getting the specials, especially if you express an interest in the "freestyle" cooking.

One problem with LTH is, you see gorgeous pictures and read mouth watering descriptions, then sometimes go to a place with such high expectations you are a little disappointed. That's what happened to me today going to Kuma's Corner for the first time.

Bodhi Thai - Great every time we have been there. Fresh ingredients and, on a cold October evening, good and hot soups.

Tropical Time - We have driven by many times and My Bride is tired of me saying "We have to give that place a try!" although it will have to be very good to unseat Jamaican Grill from the top Jamaican spot in our hearts. Their jerk sauce absolutely Rocks!
