Supposedly, according to the Dish newsletter, they are opening up a fried chicken to go window soon.

An FYI - At HBFC it's not all boneless, though most pieces are, and the honey butter comes on the side. How much to put on the chicken is up to you.

Whatever that is, it is not "Nashville Hot." Not sure if you got the 'Mind of a Chef' series up there, but Prince's hot chicken made Sean Brock cry:

"Brock and chef Erik Anderson of The Catbird Seat visit Prince's and order the extra hot. That is basically the equivalent of taste bud suicide. Hallucinations occur, a fried-chicken-loving prostitute is discussed and the line, "Go ahead and put the toilet paper in the freezer right now" is uttered."

I can't do much to change your aversion to the concept of bonelessness in chicken breasts (although I do suggest you try the way HBFC does it before you make up your mind for sure), but I can correct one misconception, namely that the chicken is covered in honey butter. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure I remember the honey butter being in a separate paper container for dipping. (I dipped liberally, because I found it a delicious complement to the chicken, but those against honeybutterness don't have to.)

Edited to add: I see leek beat me to it, but I'll leave my post intact anyway.

And what's the deal with the pieces you get? Is it simply pot luck? Do you have a choice of white or dark? I get the impression it is what it is.

I'm not sure if you can specify white or dark at HBFC, but I will say this. I'm a dark meat guy. The reason I'm a dark meat guy is that I almost always find white meat pieces too dry. But I didn't find them too dry at HBFC. (And it had nothing to do with the honey butter dipping sauce.) The white meat at HBFC, based on my dinner there, is every bit as moist, tender and juicy as the best dark meat. I found this remarkable, because even though on rare occasions I've had white meat I thought was tolerable, I never before had white meat that rose to this level of wonderfulness. If all the white meat in the world were like the white meat at HBFC, I would cease to be a dark meat guy and become ecumenical.

I don't know, because we almost always split an 8-piece between the two of us so that we have leftovers to take home. In that case it seems like you get a good assortment that perhaps is equivalent to a whole chicken and includes 2 legs.

I asked for white meat and when they gave me dark I gave it back and was given white without fuss.
