Wheatfields, listed in the southern suburbs directory, has been gone for a while now. I'm very sad about this -- I loved their breakfasts, especially the wild eggs entree.

Just thought I'd mention that Tsang's in Lincolnwood has long been closed.

Mike Sula posted yesterday that "The region's best (only) Malaysian restaurant is in the burbs," and proceeded to review a few menu items at the Asian Noodle House.

My favorite part of the article is him describing the restaurant as being located "far to the north, in frozen Hoffman Estates." Yes, technically, Hoffman Estates is north of the Loop. Technically, so is O'Hare.

Sula is misinformed. There is also Penang in Arlington Heights.

Great steak and chicken tacos. The regular steak tacos are AAA+ for sure must try, $2.00, big size,
spiced up good and taste great. Standard green and red sauce are nice, think the green is avocado based, with GOOD green snap and heat. Had tacos a few time there now and its been right on each time. With me sayin after.....DANG them were GOOD tacos!
Go out of your way and check out this little road side joint.

I like the idea of this list, post up your hidden suburban finds.

But can we blame Chicagoans for thinking so, when they're so ill-informed?

This seemed like the thread for this "news." According to this Eater article posted today, Grubhub Expanding Delivery To Hyde Park & Suburbs:

"But what about the suburbs? Grubhub is now showering some attention to towns outside the city including Evanston, Northfield, Park Ridge and Oak Park, as the delivery company announced an expansion of its services ... Is this a game changer for suburban residents? ... Here's the more details on the coverage areas. Schaumburg and Naperville service will be added in the next week, and other towns including Skokie, Glenview, Northbrook, Des Plaines, Wilmette, Winnetka, Niles and Lincolnwood or covered."

I am mystified by this news. Up here in leafy green Mundelein, smack dab in the middle of Lake County, we've been ordering via GrubHub for years. Granted, we don't have a whole lot of options, about 20 for delivery and 40 for pickup, but despite what Eater thinks, we're not GrubHubless.

Definitely not a wasteland -- especially if you like shopping. As I posted a couple of days ago in the "Openings and Closings" thread, the impressively large Sunrise Indian Super Market that just opened on Dundee Road in Wheeling adds to the already remarkable array of great stores within a short distance of each other -- with Krystyna's Market (Polish/Eastern European) in the same strip mall as Sunrise and Carniceria Jimenez just a couple of blocks east, it's not hard to find a tremendous range of imports and exotica.

If you're in the N or NW 'burbs and haven't discovered Sunrise yet (just opened last week), it's a fun place -- and is 14,000 sq ft, so a really excellent range of foods -- but with a little more breathing room than most of the places on Devon (and lots of free parking).

I was puzzled by this as well, having been a GrubHub-using Oak Parker for some three years. I was hoping this "news" might indicate some expansion, but the only change I noticed was the disappearance of Yum Thai in Forest Park from my options. Hope that's just a blip...

I would add Steamboat BBQ in Wheaton to this list as well as Autre Monde in Berwyn...Western suburbs. There may be a few locations that are listed that are closed now. For example I think Klas sadly has closed. You might want to add Czech Plaza in Berwyn, its still open.
