I'm always ready to endorse Athenian Room. The chicken is still lemony and moist with crisp skin. The skirt steak is one of the great bargain steaks IMHO.
And of course, just across Halsted is O Fame, which a lot of people like a lot if you're in that sort of mood. Last time I was there, it was OK, but nothing special. Pleasant surroundings, unobjectionable food. In that mode again is the newish (1 year?) Vietnamese place just a few doors up from VG. It got several nice reviews, and when I was there the owners/staff were very friendly and eager. I found the food fairly bland however (though not bad). I think the owners also own a place on Argyle, though I forget which one. In a way it is to Vietnamese what O Fame is to real Italian.
If you're looking for convenience first you could do worse, but if the meal itself is a priority, I'd go back to the Athenian Room.
