Based on today's Phil Vettel article on the ideal 7-course Chicago meal, I got curious as to what other people would choose for their last supper.

To get things started, here's my version of the ideal meal:

    - Escargot and smoked tomato beignets at Scylla
    - Salad of endives, crispy potatoes, basil, dijon, pancetta and poached egg from Blackbird
    - Belgian ale steamed mussels with pom frites from Hop Leaf
    - Quail egg ravioli from Schwa
    - Duck confit mac 'n cheese from Menagerie
    - Joe's baccala, Sicilian style, from RoSals
    - Chocolate souffle from La Sardine

And top off the night with an 18-year Highland Park at the Red Lion

Not being a whiskey (whisky?) afficionado I first read that to say "And top off the night with an 18-year from Highland Park at the Red Lion". Luckily I read it again a little closer...

Not, apparently, unless you have the #7 listed by the Original Poster above...

Gee, my response to that entire section was a surge of adoration for Monica Eng - let me count the ways:

She recommended Caffe Cubano from Marianao.
Her favorite main course was carnitas from Uruapan.
All her favorite dishes were from inexpensive, obscure and mostly wonderful places.
Okay, Mofongo would not make my list of best dishes in any universe, but...
And the nightlife article on country-karaoke was a hoot, too.

Monica Eng, Renaissance Goddess of dining and more.

As to my dream dinner, there are so many possibilities I would need to figure out a theme. Too hard.
