    Hey everyone,

This is actually my first post on LTH, although I have been lurking the past 8 or so months, decided it's time to get involved!

I actually had a question that maybe one of the members more experienced with South American or Venezuelan food could help. Last year in Caracas, me and some friends were leaving a bar. On the streets are these little carts selling fast food items.

This one item in particular keeps coming up in conversation and I never remembered the name for it, maybe all that Venezuelan Rum. Ive searched far and wide on here, the internet, and a few other culinary boards and cant find it for the life of me.

The item in question was like a sandwich, it included eggs, ketchup, mayonnaise, beef (i think), and a gang of other ingredients. I completely forget the kind of bread it was in. Maybe something similar to what Mexicans call a "bolillo" or the Torta bread.

What is the name of this particular disgustingly delicious food? I cant wait to visit Caracas again, this even beat the wonderfully homemade arepas with Guayanes cheese.

    Someone help!!!!

    cheers

    arepas!

I have no business trying to answer this, but I love a good google challenge. Could it be a pepito?

Wikipedia contributors wrote:Caracas and other major cities boast a great variety of hot dog styles (called locally as perros calientes), arguably the most popular made with weiner style sausages in steamed hot buns served with generous portions of different types of condiments and fixings. However, hot dogs with Polish style, blood or pork sausages can be found. Common ingredients include: chopped onion, pepper strips, sauerkraut, carrot shreds, French fries, corn nibblets and ground parmesan or shredded cheese. Sauces and toppings include ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, guasacaca, garlic sauce, onion sauce, hot chili and tartar sauce. Very popular is the Pepito, made by replacing the sausage with pieces of grilled beef and served in a French style bun.
