Many good things to be had, not least of which include mackeral, squid, cuttlefish, south Slav 'zas (sweet tomato sauce and all) and bad ass sladoled (gelatto). Far more even tourist traps, deceiving Lonely Planet recs (or just about anything they say; no wonder I rocked Egypt, I didn't own one then) and way way way too man touristos. Full report pending.

The rocky, semi-nude ones. Are there any other in Dalmatia?

Interesting comment. I just had some friends come for a visit to Chicago for the first time. Their initial picks were from Lonely Planet. The places that LP wanted to send them were perfectly fine, but were places I would have sent someone 4 - 5 years ago and seemed very dated. For example, they recommended Café Iberico rather than Merkat al la Planxa. Nothing particularly wrong with CI, but not a place currently on my radar for tapas. They also recommended Brasserie Jo, which is about to close.

Heading to Croatia for some fun and R&R at the end of May. Any restaurant suggestions? I saw an earlier post about great seafood and gelato but am looking for any specific places we should check out (or avoid).

    Thanks!

    Hi,

There are a smattering of Croatian related posts. Most are references to specific foods from there rather than restaurants.

If I were you, I would concentrate on seafood restaurants as well as those who feature spit roasted lamb. If my Dad and I were together in Croatia, the argument on where to dine was split by my preference for grilled fish and Scampi Buzarra and his for lamb.

    Regards,
