Hello all-- We enjoy the house-made tofu at the Super H. Can anyone suggest other sources for the best and freshest tofu in Chicago?

    Cheers, Jen

I buy mine directly from the makers at Mu Tofu.

I've also had great fresh tofu from H Mart

Does Mu Tofu sell directly to consumers? I thought I've seen a sign that they are wholesale only.

Mu Tofu is great stuff. See. Buy local!

I believe you can often find it at Whole Foods, but you should always be able to get it at Cassie's Green Grocer (1402 W. Grand, Chicago).

I live right down the block from Mu Tofu. It would be much easier if I could buy directly from them. I'll just have to ask next time I go by!

Thanks for the tip on Mu Tofu, everyone! Cassie's Green Grocer is much more convenient for me, so I will check there first. Has anyone seen the tofu store around 26th and Wallace? It seems to be closed or have wierd hours.

Didn't this company change hands? I thought it was now Edenic Soy & Tofu.

    Is the tofu the same?

Thanks everyone for the tips-- we tried the Mu Tofu and it was okay-- the taste was good, but it seemed a bit rubbery compared to the tender tofu from the Super H. This is probably a matter of taste, to each their texture.

That said, I do want to give a shout out to Cassie's Green Grocer-- this is a lovely little store with very friendly help and some good products. It is great to be able to get Bennison's breads and great milk and veg.

    Cheers, Jen

LA Times Article on how to make tofu with a simple soy milk recipe. When I was younger we instituted some progressive food policies at my college cafeteria including serving fresh prepared tofu which students were always encouraged to participate in making. I remember being awful at using the bean curd to make a nice product and have never tried since.

I am going to give this recipe a shot, it sounds pretty foolproof.
