Last year I made the Trinidad Black Cake from Saveur.

Now I have a tub of the leftover soaking liquid:
Combine 2 cups of the brandy, 2 cups of the rum, currants, raisins, prunes, cherries, citrus peel, cinnamon, anise, and vanilla bean seeds in a medium pot and bring to a gentle boil. Remove from heat, cover, and let steep for 2 hours.

I didn't like the cake enough to make it again. Any recipes for a different fruit cake, meat marinade, or a mixed drink that I could use this in?

    Thanks!

I would probably use it in another cake. YOu could try googling bacardi rum cake and use the liquid and fruits in that. It will be more like a pound cake with fruits added rather than a fruit cake.

Bacardi rum cake is easy to make and its made with a glaze that is poured over a cake you poke with a sharp implement. It usually does not have fruits in it but I can not see why you could not use them in it.

Or buy a fruit cake and baste it with it. Or make a fruitcake, if you like fruit cake.

You could also use it in a punch or a mulled wine recipe over the holidays if you like such a thing. Or pour it over goat milk ice cream. (I had to get your goat in there).

I wonder if it would make a nice reduction. Hmmm...

You could also incorporate part of it into a baked ham glaze. I could see adding some of it and the fruits to a little brown sugar and pineapple juice and use it to glaze ham.

You could make stollen and substitute your mix for all the fruits normally found in the stollen. I can give you a recipe for a yeast stollen or one made with baking powder. Or, you could come to the class I'm teaching at the DANK Haus in November.
