I have made this with beef and no kidding its good. I adapted this recipe for birria. I suggest marinating the birria overnight in the onion and red wine and a little garlic powder or season salt and then adding all to crockpot.
CROCKPOT BIRRIA BURGUNDY
1 1/2 lb birria (one inch cubed)
1 can french onion soup (undiluted)
1 can golden mushroom soup (undiluted)
1 small can mushrooms (drained)
1/2 medium onion (chopped)
1/2 - 1 can of burgundy or any red wine (use empty soup can)
Mix all ingredients in crockpot. Cook on low 6-8 hours. Thicken if necessary with flour or corstarch in water slurry. Serve over rice or noodles.
