Not sure about the burbs, but you really aren't that far at all from the stretch of Harlem Avenue that has all the wonderful Italian stores and delis, especially if you're coming from Niles or west Skokie. I Maquested it from Skokie, and it's a 24 minute drive. Niles will be even closer as that stretch of Harlem is due south of Niles - 17 minutes by way of Mapquest.

I've been to Pasta Fresh a number of times and enjoyed their pasta. It's made daily on the premises. They also have some wonderful arianchini and these pizza puff type things (I forgot what they're called) that my son loves. Their homemade sauces are good, but imo a little pricey. Fyi there's also an Italian grocery store next door, and Caputo's and Riviera are just down a bit on Harlem.

I would try Minelli Bros. in Niles-- I don't remember seeing fresh pasta there, but they seem a likely candidate or might have other suggestions.

I think Convito Italiano or whatever it is in Plaza Del Lago has fresh Pasta. That's pretty close. I can't think of any place in Evanston proper that would have it.

There is fresh (vs. dried) pasta at Whole Foods (on Church) in Evanston, but it does not seem to be house-made.
Man : I can't understand how a poet like you can eat that stuff.

One of my favorite unsung places on this Board, The Noodle restaurant, in Wilmette and Glenview (http://www.thenoodlecafe.com), makes several varieties of excellent fresh pasta in house (in fact, literally in front of the house, at least in Wilmette) and they do a brisk carry-out business. It's quite possible that you could just buy some of their pasta, sans sauce, if you ask.
