Not sure about the burbs, but you really aren't that far at all from the stretch of Harlem Avenue that has all the wonderful Italian stores and delis, especially if you're coming from Niles or west Skokie. I Maquested it from Skokie, and it's a 24 minute drive. Niles will be even closer as that stretch of Harlem is due south of Niles - 17 minutes by way of Mapquest.
I've been to Pasta Fresh a number of times and enjoyed their pasta. It's made daily on the premises. They also have some wonderful arianchini and these pizza puff type things (I forgot what they're called) that my son loves. Their homemade sauces are good, but imo a little pricey. Fyi there's also an Italian grocery store next door, and Caputo's and Riviera are just down a bit on Harlem.
