Sorry if there has been a post on this place elsewhere. I couldn't find anything so feel free to merge this is there is already a thread dedicated to this tiny little market that packs quite a punch.

I stopped in here when I had my monthly hankering for a beef patty and came to find CAB closed. I hadnt been before but its a little market with all sorts of African and Island products. They carry all sorts of Blue Mountain spices and if you ever need any part of the goat I saw heads, ribs, legs and whole available inside the meat case. They have quite a selection of jerk marinade and dry rubs. Ginger beer and even pink ting! I never eat ketchup, not even with my fries but I got some amazing jerked ketchup from a company called Eaton's that I found there.

I left with 5 different types of Jerk rub from different company's throughout Jamaica. I hadnt seen some of this stuff at the local market in Negril.

I am going to have to finally try making curried goat which is always one of my favorite meals in the motherland. Unfortunately they dont do patty's and they didnt have pimento wood. They did have all sorts produce that was native to the Caribbean like all sorts of hot peppers and some beautiful scotch bonnets.

    That chicken looks delish!

I am just learning about using jerk spices. Thanks for this inspiration!

Please let us know how the goat curry turns out. --Joy

Stumbled in here on my way Sun-Wah/Chiu Quon on Saturday, and they had Beef & Chicken patties at the register. $1.30 each, if I remember correctly. Picked up a beef and thought the pastry was especially tasty--dense and luscious, but since this was my first I have no standards to weigh it against. Sorry if this is old news or a re-post.

Thanks for bumping the thread, skess. It's nice to be reminded of some of the places we've read about and meant to get to -- and good to know it's still there. Thanks.

Caribbean American Bakery is closed? Closed for the day or did it look down for the count?

Old World Market is now selling beef and chicken patties? If so, very cool.

    David,

Da Beef's post was from 2008. It may have been around the time when CAB's roof collapsed. From other posts and their website, they seem to be doing fine.
