African food is, alas, not much written about here, for some reason. This post collects some African food post links, to which I would add this and this.

By far the best thread on making African food is this one.

This should suffice as a start:

At the risk of being difficult, it would seem to me that looking for a recipe for "African food" is somewhat like finding a recipe for "European food." Cuisines are markedly different from one area/region to another. Few would confuse "Nigerian" food for "Moroccan," though both are located in Africa. Add to that the artificial overlay of modern nation-states imposed on tribal/ethnic areas only makes life more confusing.

Is it possible to find out at least the regional or tribal origin of your dinnerware. That would help narrow down a search for appropriate themed dinners or recipes.

For better or for worse, I think that when people here use the term "African food," they mean West African food, mainly Nigerian. It's just an impression I have, maybe others disagree. The cuisines of Morocco and Ethiopia are African, of course, but somehow get special designation.

This doesn't address the original post on this thread; just an observation about culinary semanitcs.

Are you looking to eat african, shop african, looking for african cookbooks?

as folks have mentioned most of the african around town is west african, maybe a good place to start would be to check out the little stip mall at magnolia and wilson. There's palace gate to eat at and makola to shop at next door, down the block is nigerian kitchen
