I thought it would be fun to start a thread to catalog the constant barrage of trends in the food industry's perpetual quest for the Next Big Thing. Most food fads are ridiculous and fleeting, but some show a stroke of culinary genius, creativity, and serious potential for staying power.

ramen burger is the new
cronut. At least in NYC. So far.
Read about it here:
http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/food/patty_meltdown_zyP6jiYGkCYrGS2DcYdidOEvidently someone thought a compressed ramen patty would make a good hamburger bun. And other people want to wait in line for it, in the morning no less. I'll withhold judgment because, in full disclosure, I haven't even tried a cronut yet.
