Just checking Chuck's website for tonight's special, I noticed a reminder for Chuckfest, which will be held August 8, 9 and 10 at St. Alberts Church in Burbank. Mexican, Cajun and BBQ food, beer tent and live entertainment. More information will be posted on Chuck's website shortly, www.chuckscafe.com.

Sounds great. I know we will be there.

    Hi,

I have too much going on that weekend to begin to dream of attending. I hope it is a success and will rely on reports to decide whether to attend next year.

    Regards,

We just got back from Chuckfest. Aside from the band being way too loud, it was very nice. Police were on hand to direct traffic and assist in parking. There was a line that moves rather quickly for food and beer tickets. Once you have your tickets, you get in another line and order. There was quite a lot to choose from. I ended up getting a pork tamale drenched in chili and a fish taco to start. The fish taco was so good, I got another one and a filet kabob, which had some mole sauce on the side. Desserts were very good -- bananas foster, strawberry shortcake and peach cobbler. They did run out of jambalaya and told people there would be more shortly, but everything seemed to move smoothly. Tickets, at a dollar apiece, are non-refundable, so know what you want to get before buying them. A friend of ours grabbed $60 worth for the three of us and we used them all up, but I really could have stopped eating after the first two items I purchased.

Lots of families were in attendance and there were some games for the kiddies. A fun time was had by all.

We just got back too. A nice time, and it was good to sample some of the other stuff he makes. We got 30 tickets for the two of us, and used 'em all up. Highlights for me were the jambalaya and the filet kabob, Beth enjoyed the rib tips, although it just made her want honey one.

BTW, the sauce with the filet kebab was an ancho-mushroom sauce, and was very nice.

Great job by Chuck! Gumbo, tamal, fish taco, kebobs were all very good. Very cool rockabilly bands on Saturday night-(not overly loud at all). Another giant feather in Chuck's already well-feathered cap.
    I love animals...they're delicious!
