I always like unexpected mushrooms bits in my food. In your stew, it was especially welcome since I know they are not your favorite things.
Thanks Cathy. I LIKE mushrooms, they just don't all like me. I can have small quantities of normal (plain, button) mushrooms, and sometimes some others (shiitake, straw, etc) but it's a lot easier to just say no mushrooms than to query the parentage of them all. I can eat this stew, for instance, but if anything says "wild mushrooms" or portobellos, I avoid. And the most common ones in Europe are Cepes (or Boletus Edulis) and I adore them, and must not eat

So David gets the lovely mushroom risotto for lunch today, while I had the black bean and squash soup (which was very tasty, but as promised, not very squashy).
