and hence the reason for my question. If one doesn't ask, one can't know, thanks for your reasoning.

Look, it's a restaurant with 40+ seats. I think (actually, I know ) they can handle more than 8 diners in an evening. But maybe, if you're choosing to go on the same night, you could stagger your start-time by 30-45 minutes so they don't get hit with 2 larger groups at the exact same moment.

That seems like a sensible solution as well.

They had a fried mussel pancake that was a special last night. I'd recommend it if it is available on 3/5.

One of the things I most appreciate about Aroy is T's willingness to sell the mussel omelet only when the mussels are of suitable quality. I can't even say that about some of my other favorite Thai restaurants.

    a good .02

I was going to suggest an earlier table time for the waitlisters but the Mrs will be using our all wheel drive tomorrow due to the supposed upcoming snow storm so I'm going to bow out from attending tomorrow night as I can't justify the time wasted most likely in bad traffic.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

AZhotdish, you're in for a treat but suggest capping it @ 8. I'd be glad to contact them and make a res.

By all means, thank you so much.

Looks like this is coming together quite nicely! Looking forward to it.

doesn't look like this has been updated but thought I'd bump it in case the storm is causing any problems for anyone. I believe Pinzu is a no-go so that would bump ymas up to the table. Just wondering if I need to take something out of the freezer for dinner :)

    Boudreaulicious,

Why don't you take my seat?

Turtling into the city behind slow moving cars is not my idea of fun.

I had to go out during last week's storm a short distance from home. At 6 pm, the traffic was off the streets with middle-of-the-night traffic volume. However, parking in the city with some streets off limits because this will be more than two-inches snow, just adds to the fun!

So sorry to miss AZhotdish, though I do have a question: is hot dish a covered casserole or something completely different?

    Regards,
    Cathy2

I had to fly in last night instead of this morning to beat this crazy weather. I'm having flashbacks to my days in MN.

Sorry we had a few drop out, but I totally understand. Thanks to the generosity of trixie-pea / PIGMON, I'll actually make it. Had I been forced into public transportation, I may have reconsidered.

    Quite alright! No apology necessary.

Hotdish = starch (tater tots, potato chips, french-fried onions) + canned soup base (cream of mushroom, chicken, celery or a combo of one or more) + a meat (and/or veggies). For example, my mom's recipe for tater tot hotdish: cream of mushroom soup + can of milk + can of veg-all + ground beef + tater tots. Real fancy.

I may be able to make it. It will be a game time decision for me. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to meet AZhotdish.

Between the issues with the EL and the storm, this could get challenging. I'm wondering if we'll even be able to park on the street over there. Probably depends on how plowing is going. I guess we'll just have to keep an eye on the traffic and plow reports and see what happens. I'm in if I can get there :) I have an LTH business stop on the way--person I need to see doesn't get in until 6:00 so there's a possibility I may be late. I'll keep you posted.

Pretty sure we have a whole thread on this dish--if I have time later this afternoon I'll see if i can find it :) Or maybe someone else can do the honors!!

Sadly, I just tried to get out of my garage and not happening. UGH. I, too, would be happy to join you tomorrow if you reschedule.

So very sorry, especially for our visitor from AZ--pretty crazy stuff for you I'm sure. For us, it's just another inconvenience :)

Hope to meet you at another gathering soon.

Nice post and pics azhotdish. Sounds like a great (albeit snowy) eating adventure. As for Aroy, I think their tod mun pla are about as fine an example of that dish as one can find. I must say that I've never heard of Aroy preparing a one bite salad and it looks quite interesting because of the dark, thick sauce . . . what was that sauce? Did you guys enjoy it?
