Hi all,
I stopped into TAC Quick this past weekend to set the menu for Thursday. Given the number of LTH dinners I’ve participated in in the last year and a half, one would think I’d be more savvy at ordering for a group. I still get anxious though, making such decisions. I did my best, possibly ordering too much food (or too little?). I’ve requested two orders of each of the items listed below:
* Crispy on choy
* Issan sausage
* Thai-style fried chicken
* Crispy basil
* Papaya salad with salted crab
* Shrimp paste dip w/ grilled mackerel & crudités (naam phrik ka-pi plaa thuu)
* Spicy rice noodle soup w/ beef and Chinese broccoli (kuay tiaw reua)
* Hot stir fried catfish
* Pork neck
* Duck curry
* Garlic pork rib
Feel free to let me know if you think there’s anything I really should take off the menu or add. TAC Quick is BYO, so to estimate cost, I guessed we’d bring the equivalent of five bottles of wine (or beer or whatever folks want). With corkage, tax and tip for 20 people, the meal will run roughly $15-$18 per person. I hope this is OK.
Also, so that they can set up tables appropriately, I told the restaurant that I’d call with a final number of people on Wednesday afternoon, so let me know if you’d like to join us or can’t make it by then.
I should probably say that there's a small chance I may have to ask someone to take my place on Thursday. I injured my neck and back pretty badly yesterday, and simple movement is difficult for me right now. I tend to rebound quickly, so I'm hoping with painkillers to be moving about in a day or two. If I can get to TAC Quick, I will be there. In the mean time, I will follow through will all of the arrangements.
