Well, Mardi Gras time has crept up, and I say Laissez les Bon Temps Roullez!
    :!:
We had so much fun at our first meeting, I think we should do this again!
I am proposing the Mardi-Gras friendly date of Sat March 5
from 1-5 or whenever (so those who need to party later into the night can)
My place is in the Northern suburb of Deerfield, very close to the Deerfield Road exit of either the Edens or 294.
I'll be PM'ing address and directions on Thursday night.
I am also only 1/2 mile from the Deerfield Metra station,
and if neccessary we could organize a commuter run....
I am going to cap attendance at 20ish-
Bring something Cajun, creole, or southern.
    I'm thinkin I'll do Gumbo.
I hit up Binnys and found an amazing assortment of interesting Mardi Gras and Louisiana beers...
I'll even "throw" in some beads!
It also sounds like we will have a live trio of Cajun and Irish music to enjoy while we eat and socialize ....

Here's a look at our last get-together for inspiration:
    viewtopic.php?p=350109#p350109

    Attendees (w possible contributions):
Irisarbor - Cajun Cream cheese app; Chicken & Sausage Gumbo; BBQ shrimp
    Cathy2 - king cake
Cookie Monster - fresh strawberry paczki
Ms. Ingie - Sweet Potato Pie -smothered okra
Katie /Mary Jane - Red beans and rice
    lougourd99 +1 - Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya & homemade andouille
    jimswside -Crawfish bisque
    izzy - perfect pralines
ronnie_suburban - homemade root beer fixins
JYgach- shrimp croquettes and Mississippi mud cake

I added this in my original post but wanted to let city-dwellers know-
my place is 1/2 mi from the Deerfield Metra station (Milwaukee District-North Line),
and if anyone needs to travel that way,
we can arrange a commuter run back and forth to the station.

For anyone on the fence who hasn't chimed in yet-
Live music is looking like a go-
My husband and his buddies will be playing guitar, fiddle and banjo,
but it will be cajun and some irish too.
