Cabbagehead and I walked over yesterday to check out the new market. It's starting small (maybe a dozen booths), but it has a few good vendors. There were only a couple of produce booths, but there were fruit drinks being made and one Indian food stand doing some vegetable cooking. C&D Meats was there and doing good business, including from us. Apparently, a at least one farmer's truck broke down and another farmer also didn't show. It also was darn hot on a brand-new, very black parking lot
I enjoyed talking to, and being upsold by, Lou, of Lou's Old Fashioned Pickles. Lou returned to his family's farm in DeKalb to start a second career growing and pickling. His sweet garlic pickles sound weird but are tasty.
I am very glad to have a market in walking distance. The Devon market needs to grow, but I think it might become a real resource in time. At this point, I don't think it's worth coming any distance for, but if you're in the neighborhood, it's a nice stop.
