I don't know how this got away from me but I just missed the Gulyas Fest, dammit. It was last week. So, in order not to miss the Taste of Hungary, I checked and found
their website. The Gulyas Fest was a real kick last summer and I am very saddened to have missed it this year. But I'm hoping that the Taste will make up for it. I believe the same people are behind both festivals and I know they're both held at the same location.
From their website:
"Our special guests this year are the Szászka Folk Band with László Orbán violinist, Katalin Harsáczki singer and Csaba Tamás pop musician- who guaranty live music throughout the day!
Come and enjoy a multitude of traditional Hungarian dishes including the world renowned Gulyás (the famous Hungarian goulash - a rich meat stew). The goulash will be made this year by the winner of the 2014 Gulyás Festival - the Borsodi Lányok.
We will also have Halászlé - fisherman's soup, and Meggyleves - chilled sour/tart cherry soup (which is actually sweet ...). There will also be Csirkepaprikás - chicken paprikash, and Töltött káposzta - stuffed cabage as well.
And this year's SPECIAL is the whole pigs roasted on charcoal and can experience live sausage stuffing - which you can even taste afterwards!!!
You'll also find plenty of options to satisfy your sweet (and salty) tooth including Lángos - deep fried flat bread - elephant ears, Kürtőskalács - chimney cake, Palacsinta - crêpes and more!
Entrance fee:
~ $15 - adults (ticket includes 3 samplings)
