tis the season for fresh black truffles...

Thought I'd give a heads up for fresh black truffles at Treasure Island (2121 N. Clyborne). $39/oz.

I bought a smallish (but plenty for a dinner for 2) truffle for around $13.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to see if suburban Treasure Islands have these treasures!

    Mmmm. Truffles.

Anyone seen a truffle (not just oil, butter or cheese) lately?
Northern burbs would make it easy, but I'll make a special trip if needed.

Fox & Obel has white truffles at I believe about $230 per ounce. As of Thursday night, there were a couple of smallish truffles in the jar.

Found black truffles at Whole Foods in Northbrook. Two small lumps in a jar for $30.99. I hope it turns out to be worth it.

Last time I needed truffles, I bought a small jar with 2 or 3 1" specimens from Whole Foods, in some kind of liquid (I don't remember what kind). Look near the cheese department.

It was good enough for truffle deviled eggs, I don't know that I'd try to do an Alinea Black Truffle Explosion with that.

    Fresh? In Oak Park?

Sorry - never seen 'em, but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
I assume you already know WF has them in jars.
