A co-worker sent me this. Apparently this site is reputable, but normally sells board games. It is similar to Woot!, so that means this deal could be gone at any time when they move to the next product.

This is a great price it seems, cheaper by about $20 on eBay, and way cheaper than Amazon. After having my 7.25 QT for a while, I don't see how I cooked without it.

I'll tell you, I'm not sure what the difference between Staub Basix are and other Staub or Le Creuset, but I got the 5-qt listed on the QVC site (can't figure out how to link direct...go to www.qvc.com and search "staub") on a tip from Chowhound a couple years ago, and have been nothing but pleased. I see they're now offering a 4 qt and a 6 qt too.

I like to tease my father-in-law about how his wife fell in love with our $50 pot and went out and spent 3 times that for about the same thing.

Not sure if I'm missing any thing, or if this is in some way inferior, but I've been really happy. And this is economical enough to be a good Christmas gift.

Yeah, Aaron, you cheaped out. Your pot will only last 75 years, instead of 150.

Well use your Staub Basix but know I will be laughing in 75 years when I start a braise knowing you will need to go buy a new pot

The Chow Poodle bought me a 6 3/4 Qt. oval Le Creuset today at Marshall's (of all places) for around $140. I told her she found the deal of the century. They had round 7 Qt's in stock for around $20 more.

Cooks Illustrated says that the Chefmate "Round Enameled Cast Iron Casserole" 5-qt available at Target is nearly as good as Le Creuset, and it only costs $39.99. So if you're saving your money to buy stuff for other people--as we all are, right? right?--this is a gift you can justify getting for yourself.

I got a LC 6-3/4 qt oval at HomeGoods for the bargain basement price of $80. I've found great deals on Amazon too, which is why I have more cookware than a restaurant! You just have to look around and deals appear.

Mine LC's a second. The flaw? The paint fade is not a smooth fade.

It will be a struggle but I'll manage to live with that flaw.
