    My husband and I had a simply wonderful time. We couldn't have picked a better event for our first time out than this one. Many thanks to all of those who worked so hard and so thoughtfully. Can't wait for the next event, it was so nice to meet so many fellow LTH'ers and enjoy such good food and good company. Gypsy Boy, glad you liked the ganache. Enjoy!!

    What other praise and thanks can I give that haven't already been given? It was another excellent event. My sincere praise and thanks to everyone who played a part. It was also an nice mix of returning regulars and new faces.

    As your photo indicates, a once pretty much full tray of duck tongues was significantly depleted near the end of the evening, attesting to the adventurous eaters in the crowd. I would venture this was the most "exotic" element in the buffet, though the "chicken toes," as Ran called them, would come in a close second.

    To my surprise, I actually quite enjoyed the duck tongue. I did not expect it to be served connected to the lower jaw portion of the duck, but the chewy bits of flesh and tendon were flavorful and quite fun to eat. I look forward to my next opportunity to gnaw on some duck face.

    Myles, I'm so glad that you like octodogs. Maybe you and your Dad can take a ride over to Hot Doug's some day, I think you are old enough to have a celebrity hot dog named after you. What type of garnishes do you like on an octodog?

    Mike, if you (or anyone else for that matter) still think you might want that bacon wallet, it is available at the Mexican Shop in Evanston. Also available is a sushi wallet, beef bandaids, and for the smokers out there, a TV-dinner cigarette case.

    Just want to add my own raves to all the praise for the evening, and my thanks to those who did the planning and organizing -- thank you, Cathy2, Hammond, and G. Wiv, and thank you too to those who contributed in so many other ways.

    LTH is a wonderful, interesting, warm, intelligent, adventurous, fun community, and I thoroughly enjoyed this newest opportunity to circulate in its midst.

    And I loved finally getting to eat at the often described Potsitcker House.

    I look forward to our next adventure.

    We had a great time at the holiday party! It was great to see so many people we already knew, and make new friends. Dinner was delicious. Thanks so much to Cathy2, David Hammond and GWiv for making it all happen.

    I just wanted to comment on the cake. It was truly outstanding, everything a chocoholic could wish for. In fact, I'm wishing I had another slice right about now. :roll:

    It is indeed. Note that they close for several months in the winter to travel around buying new stock, so get there before the end of the month, or call ahead to see if they are back.

    The party was absolutely fantastic. I really enjoyed meeting-in-person several "familiar" members of the LTH community, as well as reconnecting to those I've met at past events. I only regret that I didn't manage to mingle even more, but that just means we need to have more parties!

    Thanks so much to everyone who put so much energy into making a great event.

    I always think that after these events, and vow to do a better job next event. Well, I have a decent resolution for 2007; I hope I do better than my effort to eat more Swedish food, which did not go so well this year.

    David and Cathy2, as usual (how nice to say that), you folks threw a great party. Thanks for your efforts.

    I also want to extend a big thanks to all those who donated food (and $$) to the Oak Park Food Pantry. It's nice that as we stuff ourselves, we can also contribute to those whose feeding comes a bit harder.

    Add my huzzahs to David, Cathy and Gary - who really know how to throw a party - and to all the attendees ... those who I was lucky enough to chat with, and those that I missed.

    Attesting to the friendliness and welcoming bature of the group, even my dining companion (who'd never been to an LTH event) wasn't intimidated by the surfeit of foodies there!

    Just a quick question about the Potsticker House - is this normally a BYOB place or was that only for our event??? Food was great - want to take some friends there but want to be adequately prepared...

    Ed's Potsticker House has a liquor license, which I believe is limited to beer. BYOB was a very nice and gracious accomodation for us. I would call in advance to get their precise policy to avoid any disappointment.

    My thanks and congrats as well to D & C, did I say you did a really faaabuloussss job?

    A Rabelaisian good time was had by the Dicksons, all thanks to our witty, fun-loving and epicurean fellow LTH'ers. Great to meet so many new faces, and re-connect with so many old friends.

    Always good to be reminded about what I love about LTHForum - the food and the company.

    I have been remiss in posting my thanks. Mr. X and I had a wonderful time on Saturday night. It was a great excuse to try a restaurant that is a little farther afield than we might normally go. Although we were not adventurous enough to actually *try* the duck tongue, we have gotten all sorts of mileage telling people about the duck tongue! We were also excited about our raffle bounty. The bread (coffee cake?) with the chocolate filling was incredible. I am also looking forward to enjoying the various jars of deliciousness from Ellen.

    Thank you to Cathy2, David Hammond and the LTH community for a wonderful event. Happy holidays to everyone!

    Octodog III: The Next Generation

    The torch is passed. Well, not the torch... more like, the sea creature.

    My sons having outgrown having their hot dogs turned octopedal, we passed Octodog on to the family with two toddler boys next door. I trust that Octodog will please them as much as he did us.
