I had called Green Dolphin and they are booked for a private function on Friday. Does anyone know of a comparable restaurant where you can have a nice dinner and dancing? No clubs (Le Passage is out) please... =)

I usually go to hole-in-the-walls so I am a little out of my element here... ;)

depends upon what you mean by nice and dancing...i'd suggest the brauhaus. good (though by no means best in the city) german meat-centric fare, bitburger beer served in ginormous containers, and a dance floor filled with all ages. the music may be the weakest point, however....but that depends on the night of the week, the sobriety of the musician(s), and whether it's a polka band or tom jones covers over a casiotone drum track.

If you are up for Latin dancing, you might consider Nacional 27:

    Nacional 27
    325 W. Huron
    312.664.2727

I believe it's a DJ, not a live band on the weekends.

I love the Brauhaus-the beer always seems fresh, and the food can be very good-particularly the hackepeter and roasted pork shank (as opposed to the boiled) when available. Just stay away from the bread dumplings and mashed potatoes as sides, and keep the entree focus on swine.
However, as far as the dancing and the music...as touched on above, you may well feel smack-dab in the center of a David Lynch movie.
    I love animals...they're delicious!
