Well the Hungry Hound paid a visit to The Wiener and Still Champion the other day inquiring about the "famous" dipping dogs. Being the curious guy that I am, I asked Steve how he heard about the "famous" dipping dogs and he did mention getting a email from a LTH member. So who was it?

Thanks to whomever sent in the email.

The segment will be airing on Nov 15, 11 am news on Channel 7, if anyone is interested.

Besides the dipping dog, a giardiniera cheddar dog will also be featured.

Hey, wasn't me, but congrats on the visitation. :) Maybe you can hang up a signed portrait of the Hound soon for future patrons to gaze upon and adore. ;) Awesome news!

    Hi,

It is known Steve reads LTH. He is also friendly with some people here. It may be it has been on his wish list for a while or maybe someone gave fate a little push. However it came to be, he was attracted to your creativity and efforts, which is your work taking root.

We'll keep an eye out for you!

    Regards,
    Cathy2

It really is - though it probably means our little secret place wont be so
    secret anymore :-)

Actually dropped by Weiner and Stil Champion on Sunday, and picked up
a couple of the one-buck-on-Sundays dipping dogs to go. Very good,
as usual (unfortunately I was running late and so picked em up and
got home a couple mins *after* the Bears kicked off, instead of bang
on time... and, of course, Da Mighty Bears were already 10-0 up by
the time I got there, so the game was already over as a contest ;-)

BTW, do most people like Steve Dolinsky's reports? I do - he's always
been one of the few food guys around town who picks mostly the
"right" places IMHO, always a rarity in Chicago.

Thank you for a delicious lunch today, Gus!

The 'spouse and I stopped by to make sure we beat the rush that's bound to follow the TV appearance.

The Dippin' Dog was excellent, a plus was getting to see it take the plunge in batter before our eyes - a good, crunchy, not too sweet cornbread. I like Falafel even better as a burger; and am thrilled to find a local place that serves real french fries! I'd comment on the chili dog, but the 'spouse had finished it before I demanded my share...(he said it was a good, solid chili dog)

We will definitely be back as our waistlines allow!

Ooh, thanks for the link! The vodcast looks great, but if you can't get it to work at first in Firefox -- like I couldn't -- then give the slightly larger m4v formatted video a try at the following link:

    http://dig.abclocal.go.com/wls/podcast/ ... odcast.m4v

The video seemed to work at the original page linked after watching the m4v one, oddly enough. (Perhaps loading up QuickTime with the m4v link helped some?) At any rate, I'd really like to try the Wiener and Still Champion's cheddar dog with "giardinaire" as well as Poochie's grilled salami sandwich after seeing them online. Awesome video quality (especially if you let the m4v file completely download before viewing).

Did anyone else notice that they misspelled the restaurant's name when they flashed it at the end?

Ah, didn't notice that on my first watch through, though even posters on this forum have been known to confuse "wiener" and "weiner" at times -- hey, it wasn't me!  Thankfully, the video intro does show the correct spelling on your storefront in Evanston. :) (Yeah, I know... small comfort... ;))

It was still fun to watch, though,

Funny thing is that today, the day after the airing, was probably one of if not the slowest day I had this year. Guess they all went to Poochies.

Even though the show sucks, I want to like it as it is set in our fair city so I Tivoed it. Well after hearing one fake sports caster ask the other fake sports caster if they had tried that grreat new place on Kedzie "Wiener and Still Champion", well... I don't know how the show ended and I'll leave it like that.

If you are going to use the name you might as well give em the right address...

Tony what about all those G*%&'s A&#!%)&y viewing parties you were hitting? huh?

Stagg... I tell you man.. Thursday G.Anat viewing parties @ Take Five is SICK. $5 grey goose you-call-its with discounted apps. don't get fancy with the apps. order nachos, etc. most of the food's pretty disgusting but after 4 vodka tonics, no one cares. oohs-ahhhs permeate the room during climatic/anti-climatic scenes and during Grey's voice overs, the entire house is silent. that's right, a deadly silent bar.

GA is a darn well written show compared to My Boys, Chicago set or not. MB's dialogue is some contrived crapola. The "cute" what's-her-face can't spout a line naturally for her life. And watching a fake reporter attempting to interview the Cubs... UGH. THE CUBS. It's off season. I don't ever want to see a blue pinstriped anything during off season in this town.

Confirmed and raised to "all." Horrid place. Cheap, though.
