Well I never did purchase my Christmas tamales but our family tamale party went on as planned on Dec. 30th so for now I have satisfied my craving. But there is a bigger issue I would like to address.
Since joining the forum I have enjoyed sharing advice and receiving as well. This was especially important this past June after my father was discharged after receiveing a liver transplant at Northwestern and my parents were staying in a nearby hotel and needed tips on dining. His health has not been good and we were forced to cancel our tamale party in 2005.
This past Dec. 12th we learned there was evidence that he has developed cancer in his lungs and that was confirmed on Dec 20th. Rather than cancel the tamale party all-together for another year (since he may not be around next year) we postponed it for one week. That left me without tamales for Christmas day. Normally during the year I satisfy a craving with a tamale from the Canal & Roosevelt market or from a package of tamales from HarvesTime on Lawrence. On Christmas Eve I just didn't have time to stop and pick up a package so the next best thing I thought of was posting a note on this forum.
Imagine my surprise/disappointment with the response I received on December 25th at 2:21pm from someone who is supposed to be a moderator of this board.
Bottomline, you don't always know the whole story. If you have something positive to contribute that may help another board reader, please do so. If you have nothing more to say than something that is trite, sarcastic or insensitive perhaps instead of feeding your own sick ego maybe you should just use a little restraint and keep your comments to yourself. It's unfortunate that some people feel compelled to add their two cents to every thread on this board and don't necessarily engage their brain before their keystrokes. I pray they never find themselves in the situation our family is in. It's emotionally painful, especially at the Holiday season.
Thank You and Happy 2007 to all.
Pops - You are deeply missed. There are many baskets of tortillas yet to share. I hope they have good menudo and carnitas in heaven!
