I was just in several places in Niles including Super H Mart and no luck.
If you've spotted them, please let me know.

Many thanks -- Thing 1 has a request for Ma Po Dofu before he heads back to school on Sunday or Monday, and I'd like to make it at home (haven't done so for about 20 years).

Well, it's not the northwest burbs, but you could make the trek over to the spice house in evanston if no one else has a suggestion.

I realize this won't help the OP due to their time schedule, but I've been pleased with the sichuan (they spell it as szechaun) peppercorns from Penzey's.

Again, not sure if this is going to help (given specified location), but I have seen these peppercorns at:

They were of the dried variety, but I found some at Tianlai Mart in Palatine.

    (annoyed grunt)!
I forgot about that thread -- shameful because I replied to it too.
Well, I made the dish with a half-teaspoon of 20-year-old berries I had in my cabinet. They still had a bit of heat and tingle, surprisingly, but it could have used more punch overall from both chile and szechuan/sichuan peppercorn.
