    Hi all,
I'm taking a quick get away to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin this weekend. Belatedly seeking some food suggestions. Usually I go to Houlihan's for my dinners but I was wondering if you knew of any more local places that anyone would recommend.

I'll also give a suggestion in return for the advice - stop at Lake Geneva Country Meats on Hwy 50 as you go home and stock up on their brats...you've never had anything so good in your life, promise!!!! I particularly like the Portabella Mushroom and Swiss Cheese brat they sell.

    Thanks so much!!!

This time of year, Popeye's is probably approachable, especially with no snow. It's not worth the wait in high season, but it's pretty good. On Main across from the marina

Ignore the fact that Google Maps says "Popeye's Chicken and Biscuits" unless there's been a radical change in the last 6 months.
Seafood is pretty good, and some Greek items -- skordalia's a winner.

Cactus Club & Cantina is better-than-decent Mexican-American. I've eaten there a couple times and enjoyed it. It's not a taqueria, it's not Salpicon, but you can have a good time.

Tempura House, when I was there a couple years ago, was excellent and a decent value for a tourist town. At that point, the building was barely converted from a home, some diners ate in an obvious living room, others in a dining room, etc.

    Chicago Pizza is pretty good.

If you need some references elsewhere around the lake, there's a few places in Williams Bay, Delevan and Fontana, but most of the action is in Geneva.

One place worth looking into off the beaten path

Old fashioned resort, good fish, homey kind of place

There are also two other restaurants to try out, depending on your budget. Grand Geneva has some excellent restaurants. We had their Christmas Brunch and it was excellent and the service was attentive.

The Red Geranium - which is near the SR50 and US12 intersection near the shopping centers is also highly recommended by several of my friends.

Two "off the beaten" track ideas are located in nearby towns. Fitzgerald's is located in Genoa City, WI in a octagonal house offers Door County Style fish boiils on weekends at a fairly reasonable price. In Hebron, IL,
Crandall's is known for broasted chicken and has a pretty decent Sunday brunch. Good solid "down-home" food, nothing fancy.
