We had a very nice time at Jimmy's in Forest Park when the premiere screening of "Gorilla Gourmet: Maxwell St." was held. They have many TVs and have cable to show [shudder] sports.

We could probably skip the kleig lights and red carpet this time.

Altho I must say that Hammond was STUNNING in the off-the-shoulder burgandy velvet number. His stylist must have slaved for DAYS over that.

I guess the question is whether it would be too crowded at any of these places with the football going on to really follow the show. Though I have to say that I have never been to Village Pizza in Skokie-- is that the one in old downtown Skokie with the cool vintage sign? For that matter, I have never been to Jimmy's either. I could call and see about these suggestions.

But really, it's not like I'm going to "hear all about it" anywhere else in a way that ruins watching it later.

Anyone else thinking this way? I could go for a re-schedule if there is some interest. However, I know that it will be hard not to know the results of the match after reading the forum for a week.

Burgundy is such a good choice for brunettes. But I wasn't there--what did his hat look like that evening?

    HI,

If you postponed to another night, then all we need to do is ignore the obvious thread. It will also allow flexibility in space instead of taking whatever may be available.

    Regards,

Ugh. Village Inn on Lincoln/Niles Center? Bleah. Truly mediocre 'za, smoky atmosphere (they kept a smoking area when Skokie went smoke free, IIRC), and generally greasy. When I worked a block away for 20 years, I was in there exactly twice, and I had to be dragged the second time.

OK. everyone, we have a plan.

    Sunday 1/21 7:30 PM
    Nelly's Saloon
    3256 N. Elston
    (773)588-4494
    Please see Events Board

Thanks to GWiv for suggesting Nelly's Saloon, a Romanian restaurant that ReneG scouted out way back when. I recommend that you read his post on Nelly's. If "saloon" leads you to expect something out of an old Gunsmoke episode, you will be surprised. In any case, they have a GIANT screen. Nelly assured me today when I lunched there that they will have all the Romanian greatest hits on the menu for us. Airtime for Iron Chef is 8PM, so try to arrive around 7:30. We can order and get ready to cheer on Chef Cantu.
