    The New York Times has a write-up on a tasting of brown ales and altbiers. Not my favorite style of beer, but an interesting read. Goose Island's nut brown placed second in the panel's review.

    Decent article - I have not tried too many brown's, I do enjoy the GI Nut Brown - I need to get my hands on their recent Double Brown. John Rhodell down in Peoria brews a double brown that is fairly high alc and pretty tasty.

    I'll have to try some of these others.

    I always have a few bottles of Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale in my fridge. Never thought about it much, but the combination of maltiness and dryness that they describe is probably what grabs me.

    I had the Goose Island nut brown ale at Goose Island a few months ago--not bad but still prefer Sam Smith's. Might have to try a few others mentioned in the article.... :)
