I just walked by the closed Pronto Roma restaurant in Arl Hts and noticed a sign reading Armand's Pizzaria. Considering PR has been gone forever, Armand's should be able to be in business in about an hour. They never even cleared the tables after they went under!
Does anyone know anything about Armand's?

If it is any relation to the Armand"s on Grand in Elmwood Park, then I think you'll enjoy it. Armand's has always served a very good thin crust pizza. Any other food I've had at Armand's has been enjoyable as well. But the pizza is my order 95% of the time here.

If this is an Armand's of the Elmwood Park lineage, this is GREAT news for NW suburban pizza lovers, who must deal with our residence in a vast pizza wasteland.

Armand's serves an excellent, crispy, thin crust pie, and is one of the few pizzerias that always has fresh basil available for pizza topping.

As noted above, their other menu items are acceptable (love the roasted Melrose pepper salad), but it's their pizza that really shines.

That's good news. I'll be looking forward to it.

I had driven by on Sunday and the sign looked like the EP Armand's logo, but I hadn't called to check it out yet.

    Thanks for the confirm!

I love Armand's pizza. I go to their original Elmwood Park location a lot, and also go the one in Elmhurst. Their product is very consistent: great sauce, crust, and toppings. I prefer the EP location just for people watching and atmosphere.

There's going to be an Armand's in AH? Wonderful!

I just moved from Oak Park to Wheeling, and have been missing my occasional trips to Armand's for dinner. Does anyone know if the new one in AH is going to be a sit-down restaurant with pasta, etc., or simply pizza?

It's a very large sit-down place. I'm sure they'll do the full menu. I'm also sure the folks down the street at Regina's aren't too thrilled right now!

    Most excellent!

I took my SIL and the kids to Armands in Elmwood Park when they came out a few years ago. Now, SIL is a pizza snob, since her family owns a very established and popular pizzeria in Princeton, NJ, which she's worked at since she was 13. I asked her what she thought about Armands, and she said, "Dad would have really liked this place!" I asked if it was the decor or maybe the service, and she said, "No, the pizza sauce."

Today the Coke vendor was there and they've got it pretty well set up inside, but i doubt it will be open on the 1st.

My wife goes by on the train daily, which is a bit far away to see too much detail clearly, but as of late last week the new signage on the building is still not in place.

I'll try to swing by there today and check it out. We've been anxiously awaiting the opening.

Yes, and the windows are covered in paper for the most part. If they're still doing so much interior demolition that they need a ro/ro out front, it might be a while yet.

Are there any updates on the status? A family friend recommended this place to us (He lives in Roselle and his wife grew up in Elmwood Park, so they've been going for years and love it!) and I'm looking forward to trying it.

Said they have great stuffed artichokes, too.

First it was Takkatsu that took months to open after their move to this area, and now Armand's! Anyway, according to an article in the Arlington Heights Post dated 1/25/07, it is supposed to open this month. I really can't tell much from the train. I'll try to look harder.

Drove by within the last week. Dumpster still beached out in front, windows partially papered over, no new signage in sight.

In short, no visible progress in the last 30 days.

Happy to have something to contribute here as a long time lurker/1st time poster.

Drove by last Sunday morning and it looked like they are still a LONG way from opening. On a positive note, there were two people who seemed to be working inside (again, on a Sunday morning!?). The dumpster is still at the curb.

They're installing a new ventilation system right now. Shouldn't be too long. A guy from Elmwood Park i work with swears by this place. He says of all the places there he and his wife always choose Armand's.

Speaking of Armand's I've yet to fulfill my promise regarding capozzelli di angnelli mentioned here.

I thought you all were going to spare me

Was the Armands in EP the other night, we go about 3 times a month and have delivery about at least 4 times LOL. Talked to the our waitress regarding the opening in AH, and their official response is "soon"

AH is getting all our good stuff - first Johnnies, then Armands...lucky lucky you.

    Yes.

    Armand's of Arlington Heights
    70 N Vail
    Arlington Heights, IL 60005

    Tel: 847-342-0664
    Fax: 847-342-0668

I'll be ordering pizza tomorrow night. :D (Damn, committed tonight!)

I know that a new store will take a while to settle down and produce the kind of pizzas I've enjoyed in the Elmwood Park original for 35 years, but I'm happy to finally see the place open in AH, and wish them well. They do make a very good thin crust pie.

No, I am not an employee of the firm or shill for the owners. Just a fan.
