    It's Burns night for Scots everywhere (and being 1/16th or something, that'll do for me), so have yourself a Burns supper in memorial.

    And if your first thought at hearing the name "Burns" is Montgomery, shame o' ye, ye wee sleekit cowrin' beastie.

    Some hae meat and canna eat,
    And some would eat that want it;
    But we hae meat, and we can eat,
    Sae let the Lord be thankit.

    I had my haggis last week (yum), but I'll go home and read some Burns tonight. Thanks for the reminder.

    We're having a Burns Night at the Celtic Knot in Evanston. I'm putting together a Burns Night playlist as we speak. Actually I'm paring it down, who would have thought I had 6 hours of Scottish music???

    Celtic Knot
    626 Church Street
    Evanston IL

    There will be haggis.

    HI,

    Do you need to make reservations? My Mom has told me about this several times today. I wonder if that is a hint?

    Regards,

    Just talked to the Knot, they are completely booked tonight, including the snug in back. There's standing room at the bar and that's about it. Sorry:(

    The Illinois St. Andrew's Society is having a Burns Night party Saturday -- but I think you're doing racoon, aren't you, C2? But for others, it might be an option -- if not this year, then perhaps next.

    A quick Google search turns up a fair number of Burns Night celebrations in the Midwest, so even if you can't find something this year, you can plan ahead.

    And this isn't the only night with haggis, if that's your goal. The St. Andrew's Society has a bash in November, close to St. Andrew's Day, and haggis is always an important feature. But if it's Burns you are fond of, rather than haggis, it may be late for this year, but there are heaps of options for next year.
