I've posted a looong post about an upcoming trip on the general board but I would like to get to a Trader Joe's while in the US. I hear they have REAL Greek yogurt! I haven't found that here in Western Canada.

When I went to the Trader Joe's website I found the map confusing because they don't mention train stops. We're staying by the Art Institute and have to use public transport.

    Thanks

I'd probably take the Red Line north to North Avenue. Walk up Clybourn about a half a mile and you're there.

    1840 North Clybourn, Chicago, IL

oh wait ! it looks like there's one right at 44 E. Ontario. Must be new (?)

Just walk north (or take the bus) on Michigan to Ontario and take a left.

greek yogurt can be found at many grocery stores in chicago -- I'm sure Fox and Obel would carry it as well.

Why don't you check out Greektown... http://www.chicagogreektown.com/PAGE2.HTM

TJ's does have the Greek yogurt - both their own version (Greek and mediteranean - I love them both) and the Fage brand. Whole Foods also has Fage. It's also in GreekTown, which is also fun to wander around, but there aren't a lot of grocers.

I think that the Whole Foods is at 30 W Huron and the newest Trader Joes is at 44 E Ontario - quite close to each other, actually. As tem said, you could walk the mile north (take Michigan north, then turn left onto Ontario. It's just a block or so to get to TJs. if you want to go to Whole Foods, too, just walk a little farther west, then north up Wabash the two blocks to Huron. Whole Foods is a little to the left.

You can also take a cab, or take the red line, or the Michigan Ave bus. If you like public transportation and aren't familiar with the lines and routes, there is a decent interface to help you determine how to get anywhere - RTA Trip Planner.

Enjoy that yogurt. I have completely stopped buying sour cream. I use the lower fat one (and sometimes the full fat) for so many things including baking or with a little fresh fruit with honey drizzled over - mmmmm.

    Gyoza,

For real Greek yogurt why not go to a real Greek grocery, Athens Market is about 10-blocks West of the Art Institute, an easy destination by bus.

There are two Athens Market threads, here and here.

    Enjoy,

Thanks everyone. I'll alter my handout accordingly.

Greektown is a great addition to the itinerary anyway even without the yogurt.

That trip planner is a godsend. Thanks

I'm willing to try all forms of Greek yogurt but will have to be persuaded that anything made outside of Greece can taste as good and I hear the Fage line includes one with Greek honey. I wonder if there are limits on how much I can take across the border.
