    Hey all,

A couple of my buddies and I are looking for a nice lounge/nicer bar with some good food where it is ok to smoke cigars. We would be bringing our own and are trying to keep the night to a fairly reasonable evening. Not some $100 ritzy place.

    Any thoughts?

With the anti-smoking ordinance in effect, I'm not sure where in Chicago you'd be able to smoke anything and enjoy "good food" at the same time.

If food is less important than indoor smoking, you might consider a tobacco lounge like Marshall McGearty's in Wicker Park: http://www.smokerswelcome.com/MAR/dtclogin.jsp?brand=MAR -- maybe bring a bag lunch...

Doesn't Myron & Phil's has a bar area where you can smoke?

I think that Clark Street Ale House (742 N. Clark) used to be, anyway, a cigar-friendly establishment with a pretty good beer selection. There obviously are a number of dining establishments in the area.

I'm an occasional cigar smoker, and I don't know that I'd really be comfortable at a place like Marshall McGearty's which, I believe, really caters more to a different crowd than the typical cigar aficianado.

Clark St. Ale House is still cigar friendly and does have a few for sale. Excellent whiskey and bourbon selection too.

Last time I was at Crabbby Kim's there was a distinguished gentleman enjoying a fine cigar while taking in the view of the bikini-clad bartenders.

Then my hoody reeked of it for the next three days as well.

Ditka's allows cigars upstairs for one

Another option is the Red Lion, if you call ahead, they'll let you use their upstairs for cigars (and you can eat downstairs, decent fish and chips, great whisky's). I did this just recently for the birth of my son... there were a few other places that I called that were more than willing to work something out. Worth calling your favorite places just to see what they say.

Do the ghosts approve or disapprove of the cigar smoke?
