...........I like Round the Clock for all of this type of food. They have all of this and more on their menus. Their shakes are good, their cream pies are made in house. And they have 5 egg omelettes for breakfasts. Their pancakes, waffles, and steaks, pork chops are all good for breakfast. You can get other delicious lunch sandwiches and specials, on the lunch menus. And dinners are always good. They always have the regular menus and the daily specials for all 3 meals, during the week. You can check out their fabulous website at:

And I love how they donate a lot of money, time and food back to the cities, towns, and organizations, in NWI. I really like thier management team. We've needed food donations for the scouts, or American Legion or VFW; and they always donate foods, and are always good about contacting us quickly. They have some of the nicest people working there too.

At their Schererville location, 1 of the servers who worked for them for 30 years, came down with Cancer. They had a huge fundraiser for her. Many area businesses donated all sorts of things for her. Chemo shots are $5,500.00 a treatment, and this did help her out a little. I really like Round the Clock.

    Hi,

Rene G and I have seen several Round the Clocks while driving around. They seem to be a family restaurant chain. What do you order for yourself? Are there any locations which are better than others? Any to avoid?

    Welcome to LTH!

I love their Lemon Rice soup, Sopa De Pollo, ( Mexican Chicken Soup), their hot buns are made from Gonnella bread, in Chicago. At the Schererville and Highland locations, they do use Gonnella in their buns, sub sandwiches. Lunch--I like their Indy Croissants, Pita rounds stuffed with chicken salad, Gyros is gigantic proportions, carved off of the gyros slab. Love that on the pita rounds. They have excellent fried chicken! Wonderful Greek Chicken, mostaccioli with meat sauce are other good ones. They do a lot of catering on the weekends for different churches, blue and gold with the cub scouts, etc. So these items, I know are on the catering menu. I like their Yankee Pot Roast, Chicken Stir Fry, Beef Tips; these are good dinner items. Since we frequent Schererville, and Highland, I know these are the best. The others are holding the Round the Clock name, but are not the same owners. And not the same foods, nor food quality. Their New York style cheesecakes are delicious too! Plain, with blueberries, strawberries, cherries, with whipped cream on top, they are so good! They make those daily. And their cream pies are delicious too. Butterscotch, Chocolate Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter are my faves. Strawberry Banana, Banana, Coconut are more popular crowd pleasers too. The manager has brought some nice Mexican items, to the menus, with the Mexican themed sopa de pollo and tortilla soups. He and his wife think up new things, on their trips, to Mexico. And then they have the chefs try out their new things. They have an excellent Mexican salad with the hot beef, cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, served in a tortilla bowl, with sour cream and salsa on the side. Oh that one is so good! They do have good appetizers on their menus, like cheesesticks, chicken tenders, jalapeno poppers, etc. Very good, served with sauces, on the side. Good shakes too! Give the Schererville location a try, next time you're in town. They remodeled it, and it's very nice on the inside.

I've been to the Highland location of Round the Clock a few times over the years, it's in the same building as the former Sizzler steakhouse. The place is IMO pretty much like any other "Greek style" restaurant in the Chicago area...lots of entree options that are VERY consistently mediocre-to-good, but almost never better than good. And very good desserts.

With a caveat (mentioned below), I prefer Commander in Munster. It's also a "Greek style" place, but it DOES serve a couple things that break through the quality ceiling. The 1/2 Grecian chicken there can stand its own against most chicken entrees at fine-dining establishments, and at $8.25 it's an incredible deal...but be forewarned, since it's done from scratch, it takes 20-25 minutes to cook. The caveat at Commander is that a few entrees ARE pretty bad, so it's best to stick to burgers, the Grecian Chicken, and specials...

The one in Crystal Lake is independent. The owners are very happy running ONE restaurant.
