LTH on Sunday before New Year's Parade

Planning on taking the family to the parade on Sunday and would like to have an early lunch prior to the start at 1 PM.

Is LTH off the radar screen enough to think it might not be too crowded at this time?

We have three kids in the family, so waiting for seating is a drawback.

Going to Chinatown on Chinese New Year is similar to going out to dinner on Valentine's or Mother's Day. Swamped restaurants, harried cooks and staff and likely not the best of food.

I have been to Argyle on the northside when they were Dragon dancing for the New Year. It was a snowy day, though it did not attract anywhere near the sizeable crowds who go to Wentworth.

When my nieces were tiny, we went to the parade, then went somewhere else for lunch. They got the experience, which is all we really wanted.

How about trying a place outside china town...like Tio Louis in Pilsen for some incredible mexican?

I'm guessing 'Little' Three Happiness is going to be quite crowded with the triple whammy of it being a small(ish) place, popular and the parade.

I suggest Won Kow which has at least a chance of not being completely overrun. Won Kow serves rolling cart dim sum on Sundays and has a nice selection of American Cantonese standards, I'd equate the food at Won Kow to a really good suburban Chinese American style restaurant.

you might try ed's potsticker, on halsted and 31st. its away from the chinatown madness, there is plenty of street parking, and i think they take reservations. justjoan
